General Tips
Trays
Let’s talk about one of my favorite simple organizing tools: trays!
Trays are little clutter-containment heroes—they give you a designated spot to place those everyday items that tend to float around the counter or table (looking at you, keys, sunglasses, and random mail!).
Here’s why I love using trays:
They help define a “home” for your things—keeping surfaces tidy without having to hide everything away.
They make it easy to clean—just lift the tray and wipe under it, no need to move a dozen little items one by one.
They’re versatile—use one in your entryway for drop-zone essentials, on the kitchen counter for cooking oils, or in the bathroom to corral your favorite everyday beauty and bath products (hello, skincare routine!).
And the best part? They come in all sizes! Even a tiny tray can make a big difference when it comes to containing clutter.
Bonus: They can be cute and functional—style them with a little plant or candle and suddenly your clutter looks intentional!
A tray might seem like a small change, but it can make a big difference in how your space feels and functions.

Progress Not Perfection
Decluttering and organizing doesn’t mean you have to toss all your stuff and live with one fork, one chair, and a single succulent.
You do not have to become a minimalist to enjoy an organized home.
It’s not about having less. It’s about having places for what you love.
If everything you own has a “home,” you’r golden ! But if your stuff is spilling out of drawers, baskets, and creeping onto every flat surface like it's planning a takeover… it might be time to rethink.
Here’s a simple rule of thumb:
If you’re running out of places to put your things, it’s a good sign you might have too many things. That’s your cue to declutter—whether it’s a few little things… or a whole avalanche.
Organizing should make your life feel lighter, calmer, and cozier—not stressful. It’s okay to love your stuff! You just don’t have to love all the stuff.
One bin, one drawer, one cozy corner at a time—you’ve got this!
Mail Station
One big organizational challenge common to many is PAPER! It you’re anything like me, mail can end up everywhere—the desk, the kitchen, the dining room… or not opened at all. It adds up fast!
Tackle this biggest organization challenge head-on and create a mail processing station! Here’s a simple system:
Two open baskets—one for things I need to handle soon (bills, surveys, important stuff), and another for things to file.
A trashcan right there for junk mail and envelopes—gone instantly!
Handy tools like a letter opener and an identity protection roller stamp (less shredding = more time for fun!).
It’s not fancy, but it works! And that’s what organizing is all about—finding practical solutions that fit your life.
Kitchens & Baths
Zones Make Life Easier
Think of your kitchen like a mini map—setting up clear “zones” can make cooking, cleaning, and even grabbing a snack quicker and less chaotic. Store baking supplies like flour, sugar, mixing bowls, and measuring cups together in one cabinet or drawer to avoid hunting them down every time you bake. Keep plates, glasses, and silverware close to the dishwasher to make unloading faster and easier. Designate a small section of counter or a tray for a coffee or tea station with mugs, pods, or tea bags all in one spot. This kind of intentional layout helps reduce visual clutter and saves time, making your kitchen work for you.
.
Use Vertical Space
Bathrooms are typically the smallest rooms in the house, but they’re packed with daily-use items—so using every inch wisely is key. Install floating shelves for towels or baskets, and take advantage of vertical storage with an over-the-toilet cabinet or hanging organizers on the back of doors. Inside drawers, use dividers to separate skincare, makeup, and hair tools so they don’t turn into a jumble. For small spaces under the sink, stack clear bins or use a tiered lazy Susan for easy access to products. Keeping surfaces clear and storage intentional helps the bathroom feel more like a calm retreat than a cluttered catchall.
Ditch the "Someday" Stuff
We all have it—that gadget we might use or that shampoo we didn’t love but feel bad tossing. These “someday” items sneak in and steal space before we realize it. Be honest with yourself: if you haven’t used it in the past six months (or even remember owning it), chances are it’s not serving you. Go shelf by shelf and drawer by drawer, asking yourself, “Do I actually use this?” Let go of the guilt—freeing up space allows you to access what you need with ease and brings a greater sense of peace and control to your home. Clutter weighs us down, but clarity lifts us up.
Bedrooms & Closets
Finding The Right System for You
If you've ever folded your laundry only to let it live in a basket for the next week (or two), you’re not alone. The truth is, putting clothes away isn’t just about having the time—it’s about having a system that actually works for you.
Start by asking yourself:
Do I like things out of sight or within reach?
Am I more likely to put something away if I don’t have to open a drawer?
If drawers feel too fussy, consider open bins or labeled baskets on shelves instead. If you're a visual person, hanging most of your clothes might be more effective than folding. Keep like-items together—jeans in one spot, tees in another—and label if needed to make maintenance a breeze.
Don’t be afraid to switch it up until it clicks. A system you actually use will always beat a “perfect” one that overwhelms you. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s peace.

Creating Calm With Simple Storage Solutions
A well-organized closet doesn’t have to be Pinterest-perfect. It just needs to function in a way that brings you calm when you open the door.
Start with a quick declutter. If it doesn’t fit, doesn’t feel good, or hasn’t been worn in a year—it’s time to let it go. Then, divide your space into zones:
-
Everyday wear (accessible and easy to reach)
-
Seasonal storage (in bins or tucked higher up)
-
Special occasion or rarely worn items (out of the way but still tidy)
Use slim, matching hangers to create visual calm. Add open bins for accessories like scarves, belts, or shoes. Hooks on walls or doors can give you instant extra storage for robes or purses.
Finally, make it feel inviting—a scented sachet, a little light, or even a pop of your favorite color can make your closet feel like your own little retreat.
Don't Sleep On This - How Linens and Sheets Can Transform Your Bedroom and Storage
Let’s talk about an overlooked part of bedroom organization: your linens. Old, mismatched sheets can clutter up closets and disrupt the calm vibe you’re trying to create.
Start by pulling out all your sheets and evaluating what you actually use. Keep 1–2 complete sets per bed and donate or repurpose the rest. (Old sets make great drop cloths or dog bed covers!)
Then, store them in a way that makes sense for your space:
-
Use a bin or basket labeled by bed size
-
Store each set folded neatly inside its pillowcase to keep it all together
-
Add a lavender sachet to keep things smelling fresh
Want a quick room refresh? A new set of soft, breathable sheets in a color you love can completely change how your bedroom looks and how you sleep. Sometimes a cozy reset is just one sheet set away.
